The year was 1996, and I had just watched Aladdin for the first time. Like most girls my age, I was obsessed with Jasmin, and her long flowing black hair. Imagine my excitement when my aunt took me to the Disney store, and bought me the Princess Jasmin costume, a wig of her ‘long flowing black hair’ included. It looked like a mess, but you couldn’t tell me otherwise with how much I loved wearing that wig.
Eventually, my mom threw it away. She didn’t want me to have an identity crisis — thanks mom! But one thing that remained was how much I love playing around with new looks and hairstyles.
Throughout the years, I’ve played around with my hair quite a bit. I’ve had curly hair and huge afros. I’ve done the big cut multiple times. I’ve even had purple hair that was super fun and edgy in my rebellious years. But one look I’ve never tried — until now — was super long hair.
So I decided to give Bellami Hair Clip-in Extensions a try!
Not going to lie, when first looking into Bellami Hair, I was a little nervous. There was only a handful of videos showing women who looked like me…if you know what I mean. So I was worried if the extensions would blend nicely into my natural hair.
But after doing more research, and talking to my hairdresser, I decided to go ahead and purchase their Magnifica 24″ Clip-in Hair Extensions! At $269, purchasing these extensions was definitely an investment. Bellami has other styles that are a little more budget friendly, but I figured that if I’m going to do this, I might as well do it all the way, getting the thickest and the longest hair.
After a couple weeks, I finally received my order, I couldn’t wait to play around with these things. However, I was a little concerned. I ordered the Magnifica extensions in 1B, to match my natural hair color. Right away I could tell that the extensions had more red undertones, and was a lighter shade of brown than my natural hair. As long as I didn’t open the package, I had the option to return them back to the manufacture in exchange for the correct color. However, I decided to keep them, thinking that I could do a cool ombre look, or if nothing else, dye them to the correct color.
The first time trying them on, I had no clue what I was doing. I couldn’t figure out how to place them, and because I’d just had my hair curled, the textures weren’t matching. I sent a text to my hairstylist asking her to pray for me lol! But she assured me that all was well, that she would hook me up. And that she did!
So for my first time wearing the Bellami Magnifica Hair Extensions, I was lucky enough to have my hair dresser style them, showing me how to clip them in. It was really helpful to hear from an expert all the ways I can style this hair.
Since then, I’ve been practicing, trying to figure out how to achieve the same look that my hairdresser created. Needless to say, I’ve left the house several times not realizing that the clip-ins were showing in the back of my head. But oh well, practice makes perfect!
All-in-all, I am beyond happy with these Bellami Hair Clip-In Extensions. They blend in perfectly. The length of the extensions isn’t as intimidating as I thought they were going to be. I think they frame my face very nicely, and fit the look I’ve been wanting to go for.
