How, Life’s Greatest Question

How……?

How is often the start of every great life question that we have:

How does the world turn?

How do you get from point A to point B?

How am I going to pay these bills?

How am I just going to make it to tomorrow?!

I’ve been asking myself how a lot lately. The life of a millennial is not easy…and if I am to be frank, sometimes just being an adult sucks.

I try not to let these moments get me down, but I’m only human, sometimes it’s hard not to be dragged down with the stress that life sometimes brings.

But then, something strange happened yesterday.

I was browsing through Facebook on my phone when I came across an article that caught my interest. It read, “How Much Fashion and Beauty Influencers Get Paid Per #Ad Post.”

Obviously, this piqued my interest, and I wanted to save it to my phone for reading later.

This is where it gets weird. When saving to my phone, I had to give it a new title. Side note: I pride myself on being able to type with two thumbs without having to look at the screen — yeah, I’m that good lol.

After typing how, at the start of my sentence, I looked down at my screen, and realized, what I thought I typed, was not there.

What was there? God.

Instead of typing how, I unknowingly typed God. Somewhere along the way, I must have mistakenly typed a wrong letter, and my phone autocorrected to what it presumed to be the correct word — God.

At this moment, every question of how I was stewing on, was answered.

Because the answer is God.

How does the world turn? God spoke a word and said let it be so… (Genesis)

How do you get from point A to point B? God said He has a plan for my life, a plan for me to prosper, to give me hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

How am I going to pay these bills? God said whatever I ask for in His name, He will do. (John 14:13-14)

How am I just going to make it to tomorrow?! God said, for by Him our days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added. (Proverbs 9:11)

This priceless moment, one that was made purely by mistake, will have an everlasting impact on my life. And is a sure reminder that God is with me every step of the way.

I pray that this ‘God-‪‪wink’ inspires you to draw near to Christ, trusting that He has not forgotten about you. Sometimes life does not go the way we hope. Sometimes it feels heavy, painful, hard, and dare I say, not worth it.

The next time you find yourself questioning how, I want you to take a moment and reflect on God. Think of all the ways God has moved in your life. All the tiny ways He has been there for you, ways that you may not even realize.

Having a hard time? Let me help — the simple fact that you are here, reading this post, blinking your eyes, moving your fingers, breathing, is a blessing, and a reminder that whatever your how is, with God, the answer is you will make it through…

Until next time,

  1. Great writing Maya, it’s amazing how and when he shows up. When you least expect it, he shows his presence. I always have those thoughts and on the most difficult days when I don’t “have it” it’s only one person that gets me through because depression and self doubt can weigh heavy. I don’t think it was accidental or coincidental.
