If you could have dinner with any 3 people, living or dead, who would they be?
I remember being asked this question years ago…then my answers were: Oprah, Gavin DeGraw, and Prince Harry. While I still would love to have dinner with these three people, now that I’m older, my answers have changed just a little…except for Gavin DeGraw…
Here are three people I would like to have dinner with at 25:
1. Okay, I would still love to have dinner with Gavin DeGraw: Gavin DeGraw is my all-time favorite musician. I literally know all the words to all of his music, and each song means something special to me. As most of you know, I’ve struggled with knee issues for a very long time. For me, music is medicine, and Gavin Degraw’s music has been exactly that for me throughout my many surgeries. In 2008, Gavin DeGraw was the first concert I’ve ever been to (during his “Free” tour). It was just him and a piano — it was simply the best concert I’ve ever been to. I recently had the opportunity to “meet” Gavin DeGraw last year at an Atlantic City. Although I spoke with him for literally a minute, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. When you meet your favorite musician, someone who’s music has touched you in such an astronomical way, there are no words to describe how big of a moment that is. I wish I had the opportunity to meet with Gavin again, this time without time restraint….and without nervousness lol. I would love to thank him for making music that actually means something….even if it just to me.
2. My Great-great-great-great Grandmother: I am a firm believer that our ‘history’ has a huge impact on who we are. Although our past does not define us (the future is what we make it), our family history forms a huge part of who we are. I would love the opportunity to have dinner with my Great-great-great Grandmother. I would love to hear of her life’s journey. What did she have to endure as a slave? What did she look like? Do I look like her, do I have her mannerisms? Most of all, I would use this opportunity as a time to say, “thank you.” Thank you for the sacrifices you made that gave me my future.
3. Eve: Okay. I’m sure this one may seem weird…but I would love to have dinner with Eve. No, not the rapper Eve, Eve as in the ‘first woman’ Eve. I would simply ask her why. Why did she have to eat from that darn apple? Does she know all the pain her bad decision caused (aka period cramps)? I would give her a good piece of my mind! I would also let Eve know that I forgive her. Although Eve was made into a ‘perfect’ world, without sin, she was still human. And we as humans all make mistakes…some more costly than others.
If I ever have the opportunity to spend time with any of these people, *cough cough* Gavin DeGraw, you all will certainly be the first to know of it!!!
Until Next Time,
<3
