August is finally here! August is a big month for me. Not only is it the month of my birthday, but we are also coming up on one year post major surgery on my right leg. I can’t believe that it’s been a year already. It feels as if it were just yesterday that I had my leg broken, and started the first part of my journey learning how to walk again.

As I’m coming to the homestretch of my leg reconstruction surgeries, I feel as if I’m re-inventing my life. I’ve struggled with leg problems for the past 12 years of my life. The highlight of my teen years were spent on crutches and in wheelchairs. Half way through my twenties, I do not want to look back at my life and say, “I wish I did more.”

So yes. New legs. New Me. New Journey. I am ready to finally live life to the fullest…and this begins with creating a healthier lifestyle. In addition to physical therapy (which serves as my gym for now), I also began a healthy eating program. So far I have lost 19lbs in ONE month. Crazy! And before you ask, yes I’m doing it the healthy way — I am watching what I eat, and slowly but surely am becoming more active.

This is just the start of my journey, and I’m inviting you to join me along the way. I know it will not be easy, but I’m hoping that I have your support every step of the way.

So what does this mean for The Pink Caboodle?

This is not about losing weight. It’s about taking care of my body, protecting my knees, and showing myself the love that I deserve. I will begin posting ‘progress reports’ of my journey, as well as recipes, tutorials, and different information that I learn about living a healthier lifestyle.

I’m excited to see how this goes. There’s nothing to it but to do it! Healthy Lifestyle, here we come!
