One of my fondest memories of my Nana is watching her put on makeup and fixing herself up— I contribute my never leaving the house without my earrings, eyeliner and lipstick to her. Born in the 1920’s, she was one of those classy ladies, with the pearl necklaces and the peep-toe shoes, a true charm school doll. She carried this mentality or ‘refineness’ throughout her entire life, even in her sickest moments, she remained a ‘lady’.
One morning while getting dressed, I noticed my grandmother pinching her cheeks really hard, after which she applied bright red lipstick. This baffled me—lipstick was made for lips, not cheeks! She taught me something this day—that blush is a very important part of makeup, and without it, your face is just not complete…
It is for this reason that I LOVE E.L.F’s Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder and Essential Shimmering Facial Whip. E.L.F was kind enough to send me a few products to feature in The Pink Caboodle—these blush products are just the beginning of the greatness E.L.F sent me to share with you! Combined, these products offer the perfect quality of blush.

The Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder is perfect for shaping/contouring your face. You can apply the Bronzing Powder just under your cheekbones and around your hairline to further define your facial features. Most importantly, apply the blush to the apple of your cheeks to give you a healthy flush look. On normal days, I like to keep it casual, applying just enough blush to make my cheeks rosy. On days that I want to look more ‘dolled up’, I apply the #PinkLemondade Essential Shimmering Facial Whip in addition to the Contouring blush for a more dramatic flushed look with a shimmering finish.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these products. They are very pigmented and look great on all skin-tones. They are both long-lasting products, so you don’t have to worry about your blush wearing off or smudging throughout the day—trust me, it will still be there. I love the Shimmering Facial Whip the most. The shimmering whip has a cream consistency that blends extremely well into the skin, and literally makes you appear as if you are glowing! I sometimes use this product to give some color to my eyelids when I’m too lazy to apply eyeshadow (lazy-bones). It gives just enough color and shine to make you look ‘dolled-up’ when not even trying.
Thanks Nana for inspiring my love of makeup (because I sure didn’t get it from my mother). These E.L.F products are great alternatives to using lipstick to blush your cheeks 😛 In all seriousness, these are great products that will perfectly complete any makeup. E.L.F is a super affordable brand, these blush products selling for just $3 and $1 respectively.
Here’s a pic in which I used both the Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder and Essential Shimmering Facial Whip. As you can see, it offers just enough pigmentation to make my cheeks look nice and rosy pink….like a cherub.
As always, check out these products and let me know what you think. You can find them just about anywhere (Target, Walmart, etc.) And please share pics so we can see how they look on you 😛
Until next time,
