We are living in a tumultuous time. People are angry. Scared. Worried. Confused. And rightfully so. Although we as a society have made much progress in civil rights and equality, the truth stands that for every five steps we move forward, there are three steps made back. This isn’t going to be a blog post about how “black lives matter”, or the inequality of our nation — all lives matter. This is a reminder. A reminder of how far we ALL have come, and a reminder of how far we ALL have yet to go. A reminder that while we may not agree on what’s happening right now in Baltimore—in every US city—we can come together to do what it takes to heal our country.
Remember “the dream”. Just with every dream, things may become foggy. But let this serve as a reminder of ‘the dream’ we have for a better nation. Let’s continue to do what it takes to turn this dream into a reality, so that our kids can look back at our history and not repeat it in their own lives.
