What a whirlwind! These last couple of months have been crazy preparing for theCURVYcon. It was my third year attending, and being part of all the fun on social media. The weekend started with a Platinum Cocktail Party presented by Macy’s. When I tell you this was an amazing time, it was an amazing time! It was so fun meeting new attendees, and catching up with friends met in previous years. Macy’s always knows how to throw a party, and this year was no different. In addition to great foods and cocktails, they also had a few models to display a few styles from their fall collection.
However, the highlight of the night was their photoshoot booth, where everyone had the opportunity to act as models. I’ll admit, I had way too much fun with this! It was so great seeing everyone take their photos, then see the finished product that was posted on the walls of the venue.
Day Two is when the real fun began, starting with a fitness session featuring Jessie Diaz of Curves with Moves, and Amari & Jorè Marshall, Beyonce’s background dancers from Coachella! Everything about this Dance Off Fitness Session was epic…and so inspiring as these dancers taught us new ways to love and explore our bodies through dancing. Long story short, the fitness session was lit. And even though I was technically working, I too was able to pick up a few of the dance moves…so watch out, the next party I go to, you might see me shaking my booty like Beyonce …well, almost.
The third and final day of theCURVYcon started out with a bang. It was a day full of workshops, and panels, and shopping, everything about this day was perfect! There were 10 workshops/panels in total, ranging on topics from fashion, how to model, find confidence, to even sex! Yes, theCURVYcon covered it all.

The panel that struck me the most was Body Positive Besties, featuring Nia Jax and Nikki Bella. And no, it’s not just because I am a wrestling fan, I was truly inspired by the level of support that these two women have for each other in their perspective body positive journeys. As a woman, I feel that it’s important to show that yes, women can support each other, instead of tearing each other down as often seen on tv.
To cap it all off, theCURVYcon ended just as it started, with a party! It was a great way end the weekend, celebrating our bodies! It was an opportunity to be in a space where we could just be free, dance and move without having to worry about how our bodies are perceived.
I am so proud of CeCe and Chastity for another amazing year! People don’t realize exactly how much work they put into making the event run smoothly, so that we all can be left with amazing memories.
